In 1989, a group of parents gathered in one family's living room to talk about the kind of school they wanted for their children. They envisioned a school with a strong academic program in a warm and supportive setting. They wanted an accepting, pluralistic environment where their children would feel proud of their Jewish identity, and where Jews of all levels of observance would feel comfortable and included. Finally, they wanted an egalitarian school where all students could participate fully in Jewish and secular activities. And so Mid-Peninsula Jewish Community Day School was born.

The school opened its doors in 1990 with 32 students using classrooms at the Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center. In 1999, we built our Terman Drive building, directly across from the JCC. In Fall 2003, we opened our state-of-the-art campus on San Antonio Road in Palo Alto, now home to over 400 students in Kindergarten – 8th grade.
