We teach Hebrew as a living modern language. Our Hebrew teachers are native Israelis who expose students to correct Hebrew language pronunciation as well as to authentic Israeli culture. The goal of our program is to impart a variety of language skills such as reading comprehension, conversational and writing proficiency. The study of the Hebrew language facilitates the students understanding of modern and ancient texts, connecting them to Jewish people worldwide.
Hebrew is taught in each grade, beginning in kindergarten. Native Hebrew speakers learn with their peers from the first grade and on using material from Israel. Beginning in the second grade, Hebrew is taught in small groups to accommodate a wide range of abilities. Students entering our school after first grade may be required to be tutored to learn to read Hebrew and to become familiar with cursive writing. These students may need additional support so that they can quickly integrate into our Hebrew program.
