CHESS Class begins with a briefing on chess club news, upcoming chess events, and new point sheet standings. Children are then divided into skill level groups and take part in a 20 – 30 minute "hands on" chess lesson. After the lesson, children take part in a club tournament, playing to rated tournament standards (play silently, use chess clocks, and notate games). If time remains, children will quietly analyze their games until clean-up time.
We teach all skill levels of chess, from beginner to advanced:
- BEGINNER: teaches the absolute beginner chess in a manner that promotes future development as a chess player.
- INTERMEDIATE: continues the learning process for children who understand chess basics.
- ADVANCED: continues chess development in students who have been playing the game for at least a year and who participate in tournaments.
